Deciding where your wedding will take place is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the planning process. If you’re searching for a beautiful barn wedding venue in Northumberland, Northside Farm could be just the place. Here’s why….
A Bit About Us
Northside Farm is a family business through and through. It’s also our home. Ralph was born and bred nearby and has been farming the land since he left school. He knows the surrounding countryside like the back of his hand. Our three daughters, Hester, Ada and Evie, have grown up here and they adore life on the farm.
So, how did we go from family farm to barn wedding venue? In 2010, we decided to diversify. We welcomed six glamping pods to the farm, converting the old stable into four family wet rooms and transforming the old bullock pen into a communal kitchen. The glamping pods were hugely popular, so it wasn’t long before we added four more.
After several enquiries, we started organising marquee weddings in the paddock. Ralph set about relocating the pigs and all the old farm machinery. He also began converting the barn himself. It took us three years to complete, but what started with a simple sketch on a scrap of paper eventually turned into reality.
Around the same time, after 10 years together, Ralph asked me, Olivia, to marry him. ‘Do you think we should be the first to get married in the barn?’ he said. Of course, my answer was YES!
We set the date for May 2016 which also meant we had a deadline. Ralph built the bar and I was painting the walls two weeks before the big day. It all came together, and we had the best wedding ever. Since then, we’ve worked tirelessly to give other couples the same incredible experience.
About Our Barn
Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the barn at Northside Farm has been lovingly restored to create a versatile space that’s rustic, elegant and unique. We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure the building retains its original character while also offering modern comforts such as underfloor heating.
The building can accommodate 150 people for wedding ceremonies and 250 for receptions. It’s fully licensed with the Northumberland Registry service so you can be legally married anywhere inside.
If you’d rather save the barn for your reception, we also offer a choice of indoor and outdoor ceremony locations across the estate including our recently renovated Gingang. Some couples choose to get married elsewhere before making their way to Northside Farm to continue their celebrations.
Other benefits include:
- Fully stocked bar
- Stage and dance floor area
- In-house caterers
- Child-friendly venue
- Exclusive use of our entire estate
- Onsite accommodation for up to 50 people
