At Northside Farm, we promise to deliver impeccable, personalised service and an unforgettable experience from the moment you get in touch right through to the very end of your wedding weekend. Our in-house Wedding Coordinator, Samantha, plays a huge role in achieving this. We asked her to share more about her job and the huge amount of work that goes into coordinating a Northside Farm wedding…
Day-to-Day Down on the Farm
Even when we’re not hosting weddings, my days are very busy. As well as organising popular in-house events like our wedding fairs and open days, there are lots of viewings to manage. We have visits from people who have already booked and those who are seeing the farm for the first time. I also meet with couples before their wedding date to discuss all the details of their celebration. We run through everything from the music they’ll be playing during the ceremony to how much wedding cake they’d like us to cut in the evening.
I spend a lot of time making sure everything has been ordered for each wedding. Things like alcohol, table linen, catering and bar supplies. I’m also responsible for sourcing any special requests such as specific drinks or snacks behind the bar.
Before a wedding, I produce function sheets for the team so everyone knows what’s happening and when. I also ensure the barn is set up ready for the next event.
My day begins with finishing off final touches and meeting suppliers as they arrive. I always greet the wedding party in the morning and ensure they have everything they need.
As the ceremony draws near, I make sure your guests and any attendants are in the ceremony room before the rest of the wedding party arrives. I also liaise with the registrars and make sure the correct music is played at the right moment.
Depending on where you get married, I’ll oversee the transformation of the ceremony room ready for the wedding breakfast. Lots of couples decide to use our new Gingang Ceremony Room, so the separate reception space can be prepared beforehand.
While you’re having your pictures taken, I’ll be handing out welcome drinks and making sure your guests are happy. I can also act as master of ceremonies and be the main point of contact for you, your guests, suppliers and staff.
I’m responsible for dealing with any specific requests you may have. I’ve done everything from setting up cereal stations to organising singing waiters and alpacas! I love the variety and I enjoy helping couples create their dream wedding.
I usually stay until around 10pm. Once the formalities are finished and everyone is dancing the night away, our function manager takes over and I’m able to head home. Everything is reopened the next day so you and your guests can really make the most of your wedding weekend.
